ENQUIRY NECESSARY IN CONDUCT OF DELHI’S MINISTER
It refers to shocking media-reports about Delhi’s Labour Minister Mangat Ram Singhal misusing his authority by wasting government’s resources to harass city’s five-starred hotel Maurya Shereton by conducting a series of raids by eight departments of Delhi government only because the hotel refused to exempt the minister’s car from mandatory security check made compulsory at hotels throughout the country after infamous 26/11 terror-attack on Mumbai.
Incident recalls some similar attitude by the then Union Minister Pramod Mahajan while he lashed out at security check of his car at Vigyan Bhawan (New Delhi) even though similar other incidents are noticed by other ministers too at times.
Such high-handedness of ruling politicians must be effectively checked by sacking the concerned ones from their official posts. If the incident involving Mangat Ram Singhal is true, then the minister should be sacked from his post in case he refuses to submit a written apology to hotel-management and pays for government-expenses in conducting the raids for a personal revenge.
