DEATH OF BHAIRON SHINGH SHEKHAWAT

In death of Bhaironsingh Shekhawat, nation has lost a distinguished personality who commanded respect and influence of leaders in different political parties alike. It was clear when he got much more than calculated votes in his election as country’s Vice President. Even though he could get absolute majority on basis of votes of parties openly supporting him, he was able to get appreciable number of votes from opposition camps too.

However he will also be remembered for his craze to become President of India when he stood for the post despite unwillingness in camps supporting him. His unauthorized retaining an additional bungalow even after his retirement from the post, forced Union government to even start eviction proceedings thus giving a bad name to the distinguished post he held as country’s Vice President.
