STRIKE BY PETROL PUMPS IN DELHI
It refers to strike on 14.05.2010 by petrol and diesel pumps against rise in local taxes on diesel which resulted in lowering of sale of diesel in Delhi, because diesel-prices in Haryana were much cheaper. Visualizing heavy price-difference of fuel in different states, consensus should be achieved by having uniform tax-structure on fuel-cost to ensure uniform pricing of petroleum products in all states throughout the country. Lowering of tax on diesel in Haryana witnessed sharp decline of diesel-sale in Delhi. Also prices of petroleum products should be in round figures. Merger of all public-sector oil-companies can also result in big savings through heavy reduction in overheads and unnecessary publicity-budgets.
